Born of God, Greetings in Christ’s name. (This is going to be a long read, but WORTH IT. Let’s go…)

Here I am mid-air on a flight to Doula Cameroun musing the whole time on a beautiful conversation. I had earlier with a dear friend Ayo Vincent about our faith in Christ. At the end of the chat, it was our conclusion that as a people of faith. WITHOUT FAITH WE ARE NOTHING: We have nothing, can do nothing, and above all cannot please GOD.

Lately, I’ve been studying the heroes of old in the Old Testament and their exploits of faith. I believe the Lord is leading me on this particular, “Know Your History” journey. Nothing speaks of faith like the Bible itself, a remarkable chronicle of UNUSUAL RESOLVE. Even the best storytellers and scriptwriters are left in the dust by its audacity and brilliance.

Fast forward to today, COVID-19!

Someone said where is COVID 1-18? 🤦🏽‍♀️

And suddenly the whole world has come face to face with its mortality, Almost all at almost the same time. A hymn writer wrote “frail children of dust and feeble as frail…”

It’s a brand new disease they say, the world has never seen anything like this in modern history, so faith must be silent for reason….

But I remember Moses who stood before the mighty sea, the world had never witnessed the parting of a sea before that day and reason must have challenged him, “Moses, we will surely die if we don’t surrender to the Egyptian armies”, but he stood his ground and his faith prevailed! Imagine the look on their faces as they walked through larger than life aquariums on dry ground. History was forever made

I also just recently read again about the shepherd David the last son of Jesse whose righteous anger was stirred against the Philistine Giant Goliath who consistently defiled the ranks of the Israelite’s army and the name of the Lord God. Reason rebuked him, “What are you doing here? And who did you leave the sheep at home for?”. But his Faith responded, “You come against me with sword and spear but I come against you in the name of the Lord of Host….” his faith prevailed history was forever made

Joshua must have been called a fool! A BIG FOOL!!! Parading and circling the mighty walls of Jericho with his musicians the Levites blasting their trumpets and the priests carrying “a box”. It must have been quite entertaining for the Canaanites watching from the wall. Reason must have told Joshua, “This is a joke! No one has even brought down mighty walls with the sound of trumpets! Ahhhh”. His faith responded, “No one till now!” And the walls gave way, his faith prevailed and history was forever made

Or Paul? Who shook off a poisonous snake into the fire continuing his sermon unperturbed. Reason waited for him to drop dead but the GOD LIFE in him, received by FAITH prevailed! His body system neutralised and digested the venom. They thought him to be a god.

Do I need to say more?. If these are the submissions of some of the men they mockingly called “Men of Faith”. Then we are in the right company. They say it is a brand new disease, yes but it’s the same God. The God of Moses, of David, of Joshua and of Paul. And his eyes are searching the earth to proof himself mighty on behalf of someone today.

My father’s children, one thing that keeps jumping at me as I go through my history class is this. Men of Faith did not run from brand new situations, they faced it or ran towards it like David and obtained a brand new testimony by FAITH.

More than ever before we must know who we are in Christ. Voraciously fill our hearts and spirits with the word of God to build our faith strong. So we have the potent answers to every question reason throws at us in the face of any unnatural circumstances. Only faith responses will prevail.

Know your history children of the most-high. With this, you will know who you are.
